Artist's Statement
Turtles have been swimming the oceans and rivers or walking over forest and desert floors pretty much unchanged for 200 million years. Their vitality inspires me.
Looking into a turtle's eyes offers me a view into primordial life.
I hope these ceramic turtle sculptures can in some small way help protect living turtles from harm or even extinction.
There are 335 species of turtles and tortoises in the world. My goal is to replicate each one of these wonderful animals with clay and glazes.
